Synopsis
Miriam is making an apple pie.
Several years ago, Miriam’s son, Robert, committed a horrible crime and has been sitting on death row ever since. As is the tradition, in the waning hours before the end comes, Robert is granted a last meal.
This is a play about monsters and the mothers of monsters.
And about how we care for each other.
And about how to make a really good apple pie.

NADINE PURVIS SCHMIDT as Miriam
PLEASE NOTE: While it's well-stocked with gentle and comedic moments about baking, recipes, variations on butter and more, this production also includes discussions about assault, drug addiction, crime, murder, and the death sentence.

ADMISSION DOES NOT REQUIRE A FEE FOR THESE PERFORMANCES, BUT RESERVATIONS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED DUE TO LIMITED SEATING.
A remarkable piece of theatre which offers a voice to an often-ostracized group of people and will hopefully open up important conversations about justice and forgiveness.               --The Family Stage
Fawcett’s writing is chilling in its restraint. She doesn’t sensationalize the crime or offer absolution, instead asking the uncomfortable questions: Are parents ultimately responsible for who their children become? What happens when love isn’t enough to save them?               --Stratford Connect
