WHAT'S THE STORY? |
Inspired by our colleagues at Mixed Blood Theatre in Minnesota, and encouraged by a number of other organizations around the country, we proclaimed at our inception that live theatre must be a lot more accessible to a whole lot more people. In our work, our mission, and our being we commit to removing barriers that discourage people from being our guests.
With access as our guiding principle, we work toward this goal in the following ways:
|
OUTREACH |
Our projects speak to a variety of social and political issues relevant to the Midwest community. Organizations or groups which share our commitment to reduce cost barriers are invited to partner with us as we cordially and actively seek collaboration with non-profits, social organizations, shelters, schools, businesses, and more, to support the RADICAL HOSPITALITY initiative as:
Guests: Invite their clients, employees, students, or other patrons to be our "friends and visitors" at no charge for projects that may be pertinent or of interest, AND/OR Supporting Partners: Engage as direct financial sponsors to help make our offerings possible. Particularly successful partnerships can involve a business or entity or group whose 'business' or 'activity' connects directly with issues in a given production. Grants, donations, or in-kind gifts are all enthusiastically accepted in support of our operations, artists, materials, rent, or similar. |
REDUCE THE COST |
We aggressively take down the financial barrier in these ways:
|
1. FREE CONCERT READINGS
ALWAYS FREE TO ATTEND, the FRESH PRODUCE CONCERT READING SERIES tends and nourishes new works, reclaims old ones, and, most importantly, presents an ever-widening range of voices that speak to the Midwestern experience. Featuring professional artists from around the Midwest, these performances are just as professional and compelling, but slightly more economical than our fully-staged productions. Lots more information HERE
|
The following apply to our fully-staged productions.
2. FREE TICKETS
Approximately 1/4 of all tickets for any performance are available free for the asking, beginning 60-90 minutes before showtime for in-person requests on a first come, first served basis.
Seating is General Admission and begins when the house opens 20-30 minutes before the show. |
3. TIERED PRICES
Guaranteed admission tickets typically go on sale online 3-4 weeks before opening night. For example, for the first week of sales, tickets might be sold at $10. The next week, the price would go up (in this example, to $20), and then again the next/last week of opening ($30). Also, if the $10 tier sells out, tickets are then sold at the $20 level, then the $30 level.
Buying early saves money! Note: This option may not be available for co-productions with other theatre companies or venues. Vertical Divider

4. PAY IT FORWARD
We invite our patrons to take an active role in reducing these barriers with us!
When buying a Guaranteed Admission Ticket, patrons may purchase additional tickets at the same price to be designated as contributions toward Radical Hospitality. These tickets are added to the free ticket pool available before the show, expanding access for more people who desire it. Note: This option may not be available for co-productions with other theatre companies or venues. Vertical Divider

5. COMMUNITY-BASED SUPPORTWe engage in a number of fundraising efforts to be able to produce our shows. Community support is important to us and we're deeply grateful for the support we have received thus far in our crowd-sourcing campaigns, through independent contributions, and partnering with other organizations.
